SEGAMAT in Johor is the only region in the country to report an “unhealthy” air pollutant index (API) reading this morning.

The API read 125 at 10am but was down to 106 at 11am.

A reading of 0-50 is good, 51-100 (moderate), 101-200 (unhealthy), 201-300 (very unhealthy) and 300 and above (hazardous).

Meanwhile, air quality in Petaling Jaya improved to 70 this morning from yesterday’s high of 114.

At the rest of the 64 stations monitoring air quality in Malaysia, 12 stations logged “good” and 40 “moderate” air levels.

The peninsula is currently experiencing hot and smoggy weather.

Last week, Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said this was because of peat fires and open burning. – April 23, 2023.
