THE government will resolve the water supply problems in Kedah if it is given a mandate in the state elections due in June, Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said last night.

“We know the water problem is not solved. How many areas in Kedah did not have enough water during Aidilfitri?

“God willing, if this state government is aligned with the unity government, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will solve the water problem… because he is also the finance minister.

“If he forgets, I will remind him,” he said at the Kedah Madani gathering in Alor Star last night.

Meanwhile, Zahid, who is also the minister of rural and regional development, promised to assist the Kedah Regional Development Authority to redevelop the state.

“The same goes for housing and land problems in Kedah, I know of these problems. God willing, Anwar will give me the responsibility to look after the villages, look after the rural areas, I will never fail to carry out this trust.

“We will help the villagers, whether they are Malays, Chinese, Indians, Siamese, or Orang Asli for the benefit of the state of Kedah and for the benefit of Malaysians,” he said.

Zahid also said the Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) partnership needed to be maintained for the sake of political stability.

As BN chairman and Umno president, he reiterated the coalition’s support for the prime minister. – Bernama, April 29, 2023.
