WARISAN’S attempt to spread its wings to Peninsular Malaysia has taken a severe blow, with no candidate able to win in any of the 25 constituencies the party contested.

In Pandan, Ong Tee Keat lost to PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli, who won handsomely with a majority of 48,296 votes, while Bryan Lai Wai Chong could barely mount a challenge in Ampang, which saw Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Rodziah Ismail also winning comfortably, with majority of 29,681 votes.

Warisan also lost in Tasek Gelugor, Batu Kawan and Jelutong in Penang. The party has not fared well, having just secured three seats, a far cry from the eight seats it won in 2018.

Warisan president Shafie Apdal defended his Semporna seat, while his brother Mohammad Yusof Apdal triumphed in Lahad Datu with a majority of 6,401 votes.

Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis won Warisan’s third seat, taking Kota Belud with a majority of 4,582 votes. – Bernama, November 20, 2022.
