PERAK Warisan will be realistic and only field candidates in specific seats in the general election (GE), says its chairman S. Sunther.
He said that as a new party in Peninsular Malaysia, including Perak, Warisan would need proper focus on its machinery and preparations for the polls.
“We proposed the matter of seats (to contest) to the party president three days ago, and he will announce the decision on October 21.
“We hope to compete for three or four seats, maybe more, at the parliamentary and state levels in Perak. The list of candidates has been finalised, we are waiting for the president’s decision,” he told Bernama during a programme to prepare the party’s machinery in Ipoh today.
He said coordinators in several areas in the state have been appointed to facilitate the operation of the machinery to at least win one seat.
Previously, Bernama reported that Warisan, a party based in Sabah, was expected to contest in five constituencies in Perak in the coming GE.
On June 18, Warisan president Mohd Shafie Apdal when receiving party membership forms in Ipoh said the party would only contest in Perak parliamentary and state seats that it believes are winnable. – Bernama, October 16, 2022.
