APART from Sabah where it was founded, Warisan will also contest several parliamentary seats in seven states in the peninsula in the upcoming general election, its president Mohd Shafie Apdal said.

“We will be contesting several parliamentary seats in Johor, Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Kelantan, Selangor and Perak,” he told a media conference at the party headquarters in Kolombong, Kota Kinabalu today.

While several potential seats in those states have been identified, Shafie said the party has yet to decide on the total number of seats it intends to contest.

Warisan, however, is most likely to contest all 25 parliamentary seats in Sabah and the sole seat in Labuan, he said.

Potential candidates have also been identified and an announcement will be made soon, the former Sabah chief minister said.

“Warisan will field several new candidates as well, what is important is that they are all winnable,” he said.

“It does not necessarily mean that division leaders are (automatically) candidates. If you are not selected, do not boycott and do not be disappointed.”

Warisan held six parliamentary seats in Sabah as well as the Labuan seat before parliament was dissolved on Monday. – Bernama, October 12, 2022.
