Traffic cop dies, family hurt in crash

A TRAFFIC policeman was killed after he lost control of his sports utility vehicle at KM15 of Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Krai, early this morning.

Kelantan traffic investigation and enforcement department head Shuhaimi Jusoh said in the 4.50am incident, Ahmad Ibrahim, 31, who was attached to South Klang police station, died at the scene, while his daughter Nur Ariana Sofia, three, was seriously injured and five other passengers sustained minor injuries.

“The victim, driving a Perodua Aruz SUV, was on his way from Gua Musang to drop family off in Kampung Manik Urai in Kuala Krai, is believed to have lost control of the vehicle before entering the opposite lane and plunging into the river,” he said in a statement today.

He said the survivors were taken to Gua Musang Hospital for medical treatment and police were investigating the case under section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama, May 1, 2022.
