Driver who caused head-on collision in Kuala Krai was on drugs, say police

A MAN high on drugs caused a head-on collision, killing a senior citizen and injuring two others at KM66 on Jalan Kota Baru-Gua Musang near Sungai Durian this morning, according to police.

Kuala Krai police chief Suzaimi Mohamad said the Perodua Myvi driver, 31, broke his right leg in the 9.30am crash, while officers at the scene found various types of fireworks in his car.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the driver, heading from Kota Baru to Gua Musang, lost control of his car, which entered the opposing lane and collided with a Proton Waja heading from Kuala Krai to Machang.

“The driver of the Waja, Mohamad Umar, 70, from Kampung Padang Nenas Belanga, Kuala Krai, was killed and two male passengers, aged 20 and 50, were slightly hurt.

“The case will be investigated under section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1967,” he added. – Bernama, March 21, 2022.
