DR Mahathir Mohamad should have looked after the welfare of Malaysian Indians better while he was prime minister, said MIC president Dr S. Subramaniam today, following the Pakatan Harapan leader’s pledge to uplift the community if the opposition wins the 14th general election.
He was commenting on Dr Mahathir’s speech at a Ponggal celebration in Kapar yesterday, where Malaysia’s longest-serving prime minister said he would uphold the rights of the Indian community if PH won GE14.
“I pledge to you, should I once again become PM, I will take good care of the people in the country. Surely, I will pay attention to the needs of the Indian community.”
The PH chairman has been nominated as the coalition’s prime minister candidate.
Dr Subramaniam said the pledge was too late.
“It’s too late. He had the opportunity, and he didn’t do it,” said the Segamat MP and health minister at a press conference after a Cancer and Health Awareness Week programme in Kuala Lumpur. – February 5, 2018.

MIC was with BN then and still with BN now. Dr M is just saying he will 'do more if placed in office again'. He never promised like the Indian blueprint BN is promising. Then again, we have had many blueprints before.
Good luck with that.
