ALL civil servants must adhere to rules written in a Public Service Department-issued circular that makes it mandatory for them to complete their Covid-19 vaccination before November 1, said Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali.

He said disciplinary action can be taken against those who refuse to be vaccinated.

“According to the circular, civil servants must abide by what has been decided by their respective department head,” he said, after receiving his Covid-19 booster shot at the Membedai Health Clinic in Labuan today.

Zuki said as many civil servants have returned to the office, those who refuse to be vaccinated will cause discomfort to their colleagues and create a negative perception towards the public service.

The vaccination rate among civil servants has reached more than 90% in Labuan, he added.

He said government offices will be fully reopened after all states move to Phase 4 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

On September 30, the Public Service Department made it mandatory for federal civil servants to be fully vaccinated by November 1.

It said almost 98% of civil servants have been vaccinated, while 1.6%, or 16,902 individuals, have yet to register for vaccination.

The decision is made to give assurance and confidence to the public to ensure the smooth delivery of public services, in line with efforts to restore government services to full operational level based on the phases of the NRP. – Bernama, October 22, 2021.
