PAS and Umno will head to Sabah to form a new coalition to win back the state next month, said Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“After the Slim by-election, me and (PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang) will head over to Sabah for the state election of 73 seats,” the Umno president said last night while campaigning in Slim.
“Sabah has many parties and people, and Umno and PAS and other friends of BN will determine a new coalition.
“We are confident of forming a new coalition of seven parties to take back Sabah on September 26,” said Zahid.
A strong victory in the Slim by-election will inspire Barisan Nasional and the other parties to retake Sabah, which BN lost in the 2018 general election, he said.
Zahid appeared alongside Hadi ahead of the Slim by-election in Perak, where polling day is Saturday.
BN candidate Mohd Zaidi Aziz is expected to retain the seat against independents Amir Khusyairi Tanusi and Santharasekaran Subramaniam.
The seat was vacated on July 15 following the death of assemblyman Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib, 59, at Bentong Hospital in Pahang. – August 24, 2020.
