PKR president Anwar Ibrahim said he has personally reminded his deputy, Mohamed Azmin Ali, to attend party meetings.
“I don’t know if it’s a boycott. What I do know is that (Azmin) doesn’t come (for meetings). I’ve already advised him that he must come,” Anwar told reporters after an event in Kuala Lumpur today.
The lack of attendance at PKR leadership meetings by Azmin and party leaders aligned with him has been an issue of late.
The PKR No. 2 has also been implicated in a gay sex video. He has denied being one of the two men filmed after being named by the other individual, former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz.
Police are investigating the video and those said to be behind it.
Besides skipping routine PKR meetings, Azmin was also a no-show at the party’s retreat in Port Dickson in July.
PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil had said reminders to attend meetings were always issued.
Yesterday, secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail dismissed a suggestion for reconciliation between rival factions in PKR, saying party leaders should attend meetings, where disagreements can be resolved. – September 3, 2019.
