FIREMAN Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim’s condition has improved after his early morning transfer to the National Heart Institute (IJN), said director-general of the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia Hamdan Wahid.
“From the medical aspect, he is definitely improving compared to last night.
“Yesterday on a scale of one to 10, his condition was four, but today it has improved to six,” he told reporters at the hospital today.
The 24-year-old fireman underwent treatment at a medical centre in Subang Jaya after being attacked by a mob at the Seafield Sri Maha Mariamman temple in USJ 25 on Monday. He suffered broken ribs and injury to the lungs.
IJN doctors placed Adib on the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in light of the serious chest injuries, they said in a statement.
“This machine provides circulatory and gas exchange support due to the serious chest injuries,” they said.
Hamdan also said Adib’s squad mates at the Subang Jaya station did not sleep throughout the night.
“However, their morale is still strong, and if anything happens at the temple, they will go in following the standard operating procedures in accordance with the police,” he said.
Adib’s colleagues did not realise he was missing until they returned to the station. – November 28, 2018.
