LOKMAN Noor Adam today revealed there had been no discussions regarding a unity government between Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohammad and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

The Umno Supreme Council member said the two meetings they had held together in recent months were focused on the well-being of the Malaysian people.

“Both the meetings were to discuss the well-being of the Malaysian people. A unity government was not brought up in these meetings,” Lokman said at a solidarity gathering in front of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission headquarters in Putrajaya earlier this evening.

Former deputy prime minister Zahid was arrested by the MACC at 3.15pm today at the commission’s headquarters and will face charges tomorrow related to a charitable organisation that he chairs.

In a statement, the MACC said Zahid will face charges relating to abuse of power, money laundering and criminal breach of trust.

Lokman also said that Dr Mahathir had tried to use his influence to convince Umno members to leave the party.

“Dr Mahathir is using certain people to lure individuals (MPs) to leave Umno,” Lokman said.

“This is in case Anwar Ibrahim decides to fight against Dr Mahathir. This would give the prime minister the advantage.” – October 18, 2018.

  • My previous post whether an agenda was behind Zahid's decision not to ask for bail but to spend the night in MACC's premises was correct, so that it would be the excuse for this pre-planned solidarity gathering in the vicinity of MACC? Perfectly ok because this is politics where people do come together, like during the pre-Merdeka times before 1957 when the Malays, Chinese and Indians those days were agitating for independence from our British colonial rulers..

  • Tun thought KJ could lead UMNO, remember? Getting KJ to talk to Tun may yield some desirable results, definitely not Zahid.

  • Unity government for what? To do back door deals and protect the corrupted politicians who have accumulated obscene and unexplainable wealth worried of being charged and put in jail? Any party or persons within PH harbouring corrupt politicians will be voted out in the next GE for sure. Malaysians want to see justice. Thieves who stole the country's wealth and caused the poor to suffer for 60 years must be jailed and their unexplained wealth (in billions) go back into our country's reserves
