在卫生部长阿德汉昨日透露政府或将采取严厉行动后，“大马封城”（#LockdownMalaysia）成为网上讨论的热点，截至中午3时左右的推特贴文已经有近4万。
此外，大马职工总会（MTUC）今日和呼吁政府尽速采取行动封城以限制疫情的扩散，其实也让有关封城课题的讨论高居不下。
目前社交媒体上，对此建议有其支持者和反对者，支持者关心的是尽可能控制疫情的进一步扩散，而反对者则担忧此举可能会对国家经济带来的影响。
其中许多人网民就上载了国人在周一涌入超级市场抢购的场景。
网民Asrul Muzaffar就提出一个询问，如果公司宣布接下去1至2个月无薪假或是不发薪水，国人能否做好继续生存下去的准备？
“如果需要大批购买杂货，银行存款是否足够？”
也有网民在对外解释所谓的封城的意义，希望外界不要那么紧张。

网民也指大马目前428个确诊病例并非少数，是个值得被关注的问题。
网民伊兹丹尼尔则呼吁，别要求封城，因为这可能会导致恶劣的情况发生，包括让许多人失去工作。

I do agree for #lockdownmalaysia esp for high risk rate state like selangor and kl. We m’sian were too stubborn to listen and understand the needs of self care and self responsibility yet still enjoying themselves like nothing to worry.

妇女、家庭与社会发展部前任副部长杨巧双也在社交媒体上表达对于没有固定收入的人士，可能会因为封城而遭受到的影响。
My only concern about a lockdown is the impact on odd job workers or people with daily wages and the impact on their families. Working from home is not an option for this group and I hope this will be addressed/considered by employers and authorities.
