DR Mahathir Mohamad’s son, Mukhriz today demanded that Prime Minister Najib Razak apologise for claiming Dr Mahathir has designs on the prime ministers’ job for Mukhriz.

Najib has until 1pm, Wednesday to make a public apology, failing which Mukhriz would institute legal action, Mukhriz’s lawyer, Haniff Khatri Abdulla told Malaysiakini.

“Our client views that the statement was calculated by Najib to interfere with Mukhriz’s defamation case against (the prime minister’s press aide) Tengku Shariffuddin Tengku Ahmad, which begins on Thursday.

“Hence this notice is issued for Najib to tender a public apology by or before 1pm Wednesday; failing which, Mukhriz reserves the right to take all or necessary action available in law to protect his interests accordingly,” read the letter that was delivered to the Prime Minister’s office today.

The former Kedah menteri besar yesterday called Najib’s charges against his father “desperate” and “disgusting” and beneath a man of his position.

Najib had issued a biting statement accusing the 92-year-old Dr Mahathir of stooping to anything – manipulation, sabotage, and sleeping with the enemy among the charges – to make sure Mukhriz became prime minister.

“He is obsessed with saving his family legacy and making his son Mukhriz Mahathir Prime Minister,” charged Najib.

Mukhriz said it was “utterly disgusting” that the man holding the highest position of authority in Malaysia would “stoop so low” and take such ” desperate measures”, in the “clearest example of interference and exertion of unlawful pressure on the court” that Mukrhiz had ever seen. – July 10, 2017.

  • It would be good if Mukhriz did something more concrete to challenge Najib.

He was a big shot in UMNO, is a big shot in pribumi, but nobody knows what the heck is it that he did to become such a big shot everywhere, save for the fact he is his father's son.

To be 50 something and not be able to shine outside of our father's glory does not befit a man, much less a leader.

People say that Mukhriz is polite and an gentleman, but we all know that sometimes people are polite and gentlemanly because they are weak and lack courage, confidence and conviction.

I am not saying that Mukhriz is polite and gentlemanly because he is weak and lacks courage, confidence and conviction , but i think it would be nice if did something to remove any doubt.
