Umno won't carry 'crippled' MCA either, says Annuar Musa

UMNO information chief Annuar Musa today slammed MCA deputy president Wee Ka Siong for being an ingrate.

“(Wee) reportedly said the era MCA carries Umno’s mistakes is over.

“I also would like to say that the era Umno would put up with a crippled MCA is also long over,” said Annuar in a statement.

He said Umno has continued to support MCA even after the ethnic Chinese party suffered its worst electoral defeat in 2013, winning only seven parliamentary seats and 11 state seats.

MCA did worse on May 9, with Wee winning the party’s sole federal seat by 303 votes and two state seats.

“Not only did MCA fail to woo the people, it also failed to capture the hearts of their own party members.

“MCA failed to identify their supporters and machinery even until the last minute,” Annuar said.

He said MCA was confident that 25% to 35% of Chinese voters will support BN prior to the polls but only 2% had voted for BN in the 14th general election.

Annuar added that Umno did not issue any statement on its component party’s failure out of respect and decorum but Wee’s statement is akin to stepping on a fallen friend.

“MCA should prepare to buy their own tombstone. Sorry my friend Datuk Wee… please never try to take us for granted!!!” he said.

Wee told Sin Chew Daily that MCA will no longer be Umno’s apologists nor bear the brunt of the BN lynchpin party’s mistakes.

The Ayer Hitam MP said Barisan Nasional has cease to exist except in name.

He said as an opposition party, MCA no longer need to feel obliged to side with Umno.

In the past, MCA has openly spoken out against Umno’s support for PAS to amend the Shariah Courts (Criminal Jurisdiction) Act but not on corruption scandals, including on 1Malaysia Development Bhd. – June 2, 2018.

  • They finally admitted "power sharing" was really "carrying" - you scratch my back, I scratch yours - at the rakyat expense.

    Still not telling the truth. Whether BN breaks up or not depends on whether MCA think working with top UMNOleaders president which will be Zahid Hamidi workable.. Wee Ma Siong trying to influence UM NO election is futile but his choice is very limited.
