Najib arrives at MACC

The Malaysian Insight

NAJIB Razak has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya where he is expected to be questioned over RM42 million deposited into his bank accounts between December 2014 and February 2015.

Investigators believe the money came from SRC International, a former subsidiary of the troubled state investor 1Malaysia Development Berhad.

SRC was created in 2011 by Najib’s government to pursue overseas investments in energy resources, and was a unit of 1MDB until it was moved to the Finance Ministry in 2012.

The former prime minister was accompanied by his defence team led by former solicitor-general II Mohd Yusof Zainal Abiden.

It is not known how long Najib will be questioned today but MACC officials said it could take the whole day.

MACC chief commissioner Mohd Shukri Abdull is expected to hold a press conference at 11am. – May 22, 2018.
