3rd day of double-digit growth in Covid-19 cases, 1 death reported

MALAYSIA has reported a double-digit growth in Covid-19 cases for the third day, with 84  infections registered as of noon today.

This has brought the national tally to 5,389.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 95 patients have recovered and been discharged as of noon today.

Noor Hisham said 3,197 patients have been discharged.

Recoveries make up  59.3% of the total of cases.

Noor Hisham said 46 patients are in intensive care, with 26 of them on respirators.

He said one patient has died from the Covid-19 virus bringing the number of casualties to 89.

The latest fatality was a 51-year-old Malaysian who was admitted to the Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Johor on April 13.

Noor Hisham said the man died yesterday at 6.47pm. 

He said the patient was a diabetic, had high blood pressure, renal failure and suffered from a heart condition. – April 19, 2020.
