NAJIB Razak, the first-ever Umno president to lose federal power, will be present for his successor Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s policy speech at the Putra World Trade Centre tonight, said his son.

“He will be coming,” Mohd Nizar Najib said on the sidelines of the Umno general assembly today.

The Pekan Umno Youth chief said Najib is still part of the party.

“At the end of the day, he is still part of Umno. All said and done, he has done a lot for the party.

“The trial is under way, and he’s yet to be proven right or wrong. They (Umno delegates) should remember his deeds for the party,” said Nizar, who is Najib’s first son with his first wife, Tengku Puteri Zainah.

He said his father will not interfere with the current leadership.

“I don’t think he wants to interfere with the current leadership. I believe he will honour that and stay supportive,” said the 40-year-old accountant.

Najib resigned as Umno president three days after Barisan Nasional lost power in the May 9 general election.

The former prime minister has since been slapped with a string of charges, the latest being four counts of corruption and 21 counts of money laundering. The 25 charges are in relation to two transfers amounting to US$681 million (RM2.6 billion) to his personal accounts in 2013.

Zahid will deliver his first policy speech as Umno president around 8pm. – September 29, 2018.

What an idiotic statement. The man who stole billion from the country, got millions of people addicted to free and stolen money, lost the government and yet still expected people to remember his deeds. Stupid to the core.
