THE Port Dickson by-election will be a seven-cornered fight

Among the famous faces taking part in it are PKR president-elect Anwar Ibrahim, his former aide Saiful Bukhari Azlan, whose accusation of sodomy saw the Reformasi leader jailed, and former Negri Sembilan menteri besar Isa Samad.

Islamist party PAS, hoping to cash in on the sizeable army vote bank, has fielded retired air force man Mohd Nazari Mokhtar.

Three independents Lau Seck Yan, Stevie Chan and Kan Chee Yuen have thrown their names into the hat.

Eight names were submitted for nomination but the Election Committee disqualified A. Rajendra.

The by-election is forced by the resignation of incumbent MP Danyal Balagopal Abdullah on September 12.

Danyal, 68, of PKR, vacated the seat to pave the way for Anwar to make a comeback to Parliament. –  September 29, 2018.
