BUKIT Aman commercial crime chief Amar Singh Ishar Singh today lashed out at blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin for accusing police of stealing RM43.3 million out of the total seized from former prime minister Najib Razak.
The Commercial Crime Investigation Department director dared Raja Petra, popularly known by his initials RPK, to lodge a report at any police station in the country if he has proof to back his claim.
“If he has credible information, then please lodge a report in Malaysia and not hide behind the cyber curtain.
“Be brave and lodge a report.”
He clarified that police found RM114 million in cash in a Pavilion Residences condominium unit linked to Najib, and the total amount of RM116 million included the value of items seized from all six premises linked to the former Umno president.
“Let me be clear. RM114 million in cash was found in one apartment linked to Najib. In total, we searched six premises.
“The rest of the amount was not seized in cash, but items, like handbags, watches and jewellery.
“In total, the cash and items were worth RM116 million.

Raja Petra yesterday took to his blog to make the accusation against police.
He said police had seized RM160 million, but declared only RM116 million.
“If police return the confiscated money, then they will have to return RM160 million, and not just RM116.7 million.
“So, the easy way out is to forfeit the money. Then, the police officers who stole the RM43.3 million can keep the money and will not have to return it to Umno.”
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Noor Rashid Ibrahim yesterday said the funds may have been obtained illegally.
“Based on the investigations so far, and the statements recorded, we believe the money was acquired through unlawful means.
“We will need time to verify all the items seized pertaining to the investigations, as the scale of the case is huge.” – September 28, 2018.
