BERSATU will not form a unity government with Umno as Pakatan Harapan has already formed a government after winning the general election with a comfortable margin.

Party president Muhyiddin Yassin said it does not make sense to team up with opposition party Umno, which had lost in the 14th general election.

“We have won. PH has formed the government. Umno has lost, that is, it has not obtained enough votes to form the majority.

“It is not viable, Umno plus us is never viable. People have rejected Umno. A lot of issues. I don’t think it is acceptable,” he told reporters in a press conference today.

The Home Minister however said Bersatu will consider accepting Umno leaders into its fold, although they have to be vetted first.

“We have stated very clearly, the party is open to all. We are receptive to new members.

“Bersatu has its own policy. If they express their intention, we will consider them,” Muhyiddin said.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was reported as saying that the party would like to form a unity government with any party, including Bersatu.

The former deputy prime minister said he had met Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad to hold discussion on the matter. – September 27, 2018.

  • Umno's (and Umno-BN) "race gone rotten since 1957" kind of thinking (with its excesses & abuses) must not ever be allowed to taint Malaysia again, let alone the New Malaysia Pakatan govt. Umno-BN have made themselves the laughing stock of the world, and must slowly die..
