THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should investigate the source of wealth of former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his sons, said Tourism and Culture Minister Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.

He said it was unfair to investigate only Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for allegedly possessing RM230 million as claimed by Dr Mahathir.

“If Zahid dares to say he is willing to be investigated, I feel it would not be fair if only the DPM is investigated, the person making the allegation (Dr Mahathir) should also be probed over his sons’ wealth.

“We also want to know how his sons suddenly became rich,” he told reporters after opening the Padang Rengas Umno division delegates’ conference at Dewan Mellinium in Lubuk Merbau attended by 328 delegates, including the Youth, Wanita and Puteri wings.

He was commenting on Dr Mahathir’s recent statements on the RM230 million in Zahid’s bank accounts when he was appointed Umno Youth chief.

Nazri said Zahid was a successful businessman after quitting as political secretary to present Umno president Najib Razak.

He said Dr Mahathir was now attacking Zahid as the former prime minister could not topple Najib, who has the solid backing of Umno members. – Bernama, August 6, 2017.
