LEADERS who have quit Umno are not strong-willed and have too many self interests, said party secretary-general Annuar Musa.

Taking a stab at these leaders, Annuar said the party’s grassroots were more loyal to its fight and struggles.

“Those who are not strong-willed are these leaders because they have too many self-interests. But those at the rural areas and the people are more loyal to the Umno fight.

“This is not a new process, it was done before by Onn Jaafar in the beginning of Umno’s formation,” he said in PWTC today.

He was responding to questions if more leaders would follow those who had left the party after its loss of power in GE14.

In the past week, senior Umno leaders Mustapa Mohamed and Anifah Aman had quit the party saying that they had lost confidence in the party and its new leadership.

They had joined three other MPs and four state reps who had quit the party immediately after the general election.

The latest to leave the party was the influential Cheras Umno leader Syed Ali Al-Habshee who announced his decision to leave the party today.

When asked, Annuar said he had not received Syed Ali’s resignation notice.

“I have yet to receive a notice although I have heard of it,” he said.

Syed Ali is widely seen as an influential warlord in the party.

His resignation came as another blow to the party which will have its annual general assembly on September 28.

Last week Mustapa left the party as he no longer had faith in its ability to win back public support.

  • You Annuar, is blind and dumb. So far all those UMNO leaders who left, are the creams of the party. Only those left behind like Annuar, Ismail Sabri, Lokman, Jamal, Tajuddin and a few others, are considered scumbags of humanity.

  • Those who stayed are gusty for power and rewards being servant to money. Those who stayed has lost their faith as they can see the different between what is right and what is wrong as there is too much of greed in them. Those who stayed cant accept the changes that are happening around them. Those who stayed still believed in CASH IS KING.
