ANOTHER project has come under the microscope in Setiawangsa, where residents are protesting the development of a 46-storey condominium with 382 units.
The residents are concerned that the development, located 10m from Desa Putra Condominium, will increase population density and cause massive traffic congestion in the area.
Last year, the residents had protested two commercial projects, Wangsa 9 and Hamilton, to no avail.
Despite their protests, both the projects were approved by Kuala Lumpur City Hall and will be completed in the next three years.
Desa Putra deputy chairman Faudzain Ghazali said that they had sent a protest letter to Kuala Lumpur City Hall on August 27.
“We want to see the traffic impact assessment.
“We have made a request to City Hall, but have yet to get a reply,” he said at Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad’s service centre.
Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad says KL Draft City Plan 2020 should be gazetted so that there will be no issues with land change.

Fuadzain also said that they had gotten 229 signatures, which makes up 60% of the residents.
“We are hoping that City Hall will call us for a public hearing to address our grouses.
“If possible, we want City Hall to buy the land and convert it into a park,” he said.
When asked if the residents had met the developer, Fuadzain said they had, and that the developer had their protest letter.
“How did the developer get our letter to City Hall, which is private and confidential?
“We asked them and they didn’t want to say. They asked to stop the protest and we said no,” he said.
Nik Nazmi said that KL Draft City Plan 2020 should be gazetted so that there will be no issues with land change.
“I will raise this matter with City Hall and Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad,” he said. – September 18, 2018.
