PAS must work with Umno to defeat Pakatan, says delegate

PAS Perak delegate Mohd Jamal Kamaruddin says the Islamist party has to cooperate with Umno to defeat Pakatan, which has become 'Barisan Nasional 2.0'. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Nazir Sufari, September 15, 2018.

PAS needs to partner Umno in order to defeat Pakatan Harapan (PH), which has now become Barisan Nasional (BN) 2.0, said PAS Perak.

“Without this cooperation, we cannot defeat PH on our own,” said Perak delegate Mohd Jamal Kamaruddin.

“The bad things that BN used to do is now done by PH. It has become BN 2.0,” said the religious teacher during the debate on president Abdul Hadi Awang’s speech at the PAS annual congress in Kuala Terengganu tonight.

He reasoned that PAS had made many pacts, be it with BN in the 1970s or Gagasan Rakyat with Semangat 46 in the 1990s.

“This is no different. Similarly, we also made pacts with PKR and DAP in Pakatan Rakyat,” said Jamal.

He said such partnerships are not permanent and can be broken when the other party breaks away from PAS principles.

“We won’t lose anything,” he added.

“After we have defeated PH (with Umno) and they want to go back to their corrupt ways, we can break away from them again,” said Jamal.

Although Hadi did not specify Umno or BN in his policy speech when he spoke about working with friends and foes alike, many of the delegates have used the debate as a chance to voice their support for working with Umno. – September 15, 2018.

  • Cooperating to defeat this govt makes sense as Pakatan's majority is small & can be easily overcome. Unless they win over more voters, especially Rural Malays, like Anwar said after GE13 in 2013..

  • So PH after 4 months is the same as BN who you are considering combining forces with. Sorry but I cant see the logic.
