BARISAN Nasional made history today when its president, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, attended the opening of the PAS annual congress in Kuala Terengganu.
With Zahid was MIC deputy president K. Devamany. They were seated together with leaders from Gagasan Sejahtera parties Ikatan and Berjasa.
This is the first time BN leaders have attended a PAS muktamar since the party quit the coalition in 1977.
Among other Umno leaders in attendance were its vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob, secretary-general Annuar Musa and Supreme Council member Lokman Noor Adam.
On Thursday, Umno Youth and Wanita chiefs Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Noraini Ahmad attended the Islamist party’s wings’ meetings.
PAS and Umno are looking to forge a political cooperation ahead of the next general election.
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is due to give his policy speech at 10.45am. – September 15, 2018.
