THERE are more satisfied than unhappy Malaysians under the new government, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad. 

“According to a study, there are more positive sentiments than negative ones about the new government,” the Pakatan Harapan chairman said today.

He was citing a study conducted by Berkshire Media that analysed the sentiments of some 480,000 Malaysians on social media. 

Dr Mahathir said Malaysians were mostly unhappy about the cost of developing LRT3 and MRT rather than about the facilities themselves.

Malaysians also wanted speedier prosecution in corruption cases, he added, and they felt the current pace was too slow.

“The new government is seen as not acting fast or strict enough against the crimes committed by the previous government,” said Dr Mahathir after chairing the PH presidential council meeting at the Bersatu head office in Petaling Jaya today.

He said the delay was caused by the need to collect clear evidence before prosecutions could be done in the courts.

“We are also focusing on the big cases instead of the smaller ones,” said Dr Mahathir.

Malaysians in the survey were also satisfied with the government’s efforts on repealing unjust laws and the passing of the Sales and Services Tax laws. 

Dr Mahathir, however, did not reveal other details of the survey which was conducted towards the end of the new government’s first 100 days in power last month.
