BLOGGER Ratu Naga is offering herself as a PKR central committee member in the party elections, as she wants to fight for the welfare of party members, especially those in the B40 group.
The 38-year-old blogger, whose real name is Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, said she has a proven track record.
The former Barisan Nasional blogger joined PKR in 2016 and listed her work helping Pakatan Harapan defeat BN in the 14th general election as among her success stories.
“Now I request of PKR members not to reject newcomers (like me). If a newcomer can offer you something better, you might as well accept the newcomer.
“Before making any decision, get to know me better,” she told The Malaysian Insight.
Syarul Ema, who has more than 50,000 Facebook followers, admitted that it would not be an easy task for her in the PKR polls as there are some big names in the race.
“If I am elected, I will focus of empowering party members who are in the B40 group,” she added.
The mother of one said when she joined PKR in 2016, many labelled her as a liability to the party.
She was criticised for defending the hugely unpopular goods and services tax (GST).
“When the GST was implemented, prices of good shot up. We (in BN) were not given accurate details. I was slammed in Facebook for defending the GST. It was so bad that I couldn’t take it.”
She became a victim of cyber bullying for defending GST.
“The attacks continued for months. Of course, I felt it. If I had followed my heart, I would have just deleted my Facebook account but I felt responsible for what I had done, and I wanted to correct it.”
Now, she was more responsible over her posts and no the same blogger who used to lie when she supported Umno.
“Those are old stories now. When I first joined PKR, many people slammed PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin for bringing me into the party.
A total of 86 candidates are vying for 20 seats in the PKR supreme council, including Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari and Titiwangs MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad. – September 6, 2018.
