PKR deputy president Azmin Ali should prove his loyalty giving up his parliamentary seat to Anwar Ibrahim, said Kapar MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid.
Sani, in an interview with Malay Mail Online, threw the same challenge at Azmin loyalist Zuraida Kamaruddin.
Sani said the two of them could end all questions over their loyalty to the president elect once and for all if they would resign their seats to make way for Anwar.
“I challenge Azmin and Zuraida to offer to resign as MPs; show once and for all your loyalty to Anwar,” Sani was quoted as saying.
Economic Affairs Minister Azmin is the Gombak MP and Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida is the Ampang MP.
“Both seats are strong, safe seats,” Sani said.
Yesterday, Anwar told delegates at the Congress on the Future of Bumiputeras and the Nation that he would return very soon to parliament via a by-election.
Several lawmakers in the party, including Sani, Selayang MP William Leong, and Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul have offered to resign to enable Anwar to return to the Dewan Rakyat by way of a win in a by-election.
Anwar recently won the president’s post uncontested and is set to take over from his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
Meanwhile, Azmin will be defending his PKR deputy presidency in the upcoming party polls while Zuraida, the incumbent Wanita chief, is going for a vice-president’s post.
Rafizi Ramli is challenging Azmin for the deputy president’s post, and his campaign is based on the premise that only his election to party No. 2 would ensure Anwar was appointed as the eighth prime minister.
Rafizi’s supporters, including Sani, have slammed Azmin for deviating from the Reformasi agenda, and harbouring ambitions to become the prime minister.
Speaking at the Bumiputera congress yesterday, Azmin has reiterated that his loyalty to Anwar was beyond question. – September 2, 2018.edns

offering seats as a sign of loyalty ?!
what if the tables are turned and asked - how about you offering your seat ?!

confrontational politics not healthy
there is a democratic platform and may the best candidate win
