THE Islamic education syllabus in kindergartens and schools will be amended to emphasise the inculcation of noble values based on the religion, said Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

He said inculcating noble values in the young would help mould an exemplary society.

He said parents these days were too busy with their careers, to the point that they did not have much time to teach their children.

“This is why children become ‘wild’ and do bad things. lf they are not taught positive values, they ‘learn’ from their friends, and not all their friends are good,” he said during a dialogue session at the Congress on the Future of Bumiputeras and the Nation in Kuala Lumpur today.

He said a person with positive values would use their knowledge towards good.

“The knowledge acquired is useful if the person uses it for good.

“If the person is a rogue, their knowledge would be used to do things like stealing, but if they are good, the knowledge would be used properly.” – Bernama, September 1, 2018.

  • There are amny things that can be done to inculcate positive and good values among Bumiputeras but sad to say that there are many negative factors. side tract their progress. From 1991 to 1994, I was my university representative in the National Committee for Coordinating the Jawi Scripts in Malaysia. (under the PM's department). This uee of Jawi script is LIKE A WEIGHT ROUND EVERY mUSLIM/ bUMIPUTERA STUDENT.

    • wHERE IN mALAYSIA THE jAWI SCRIPT IS USED? The Utusan version of jawi newspaper was closed down ages ago. Even a proposal to write the names of streets in Jawi under the Romanised script was shot down for fear of confusing the people. A usual feature of every meeting was the chairman telling the member he was in a rush to attend another meeting,' so please make the meeting short'...
