A TEENAGE girl from Menggatal, Sabah, has claimed that she was gang-raped by five boys she had befriended on WeChat over the previous three weeks, Sabah police said in a statement today.

According to Kota Kinabalu Police chief M. Chandra, the 15-year-old was raped at an old abandoned house on June 14.

Chandra said the victim was invited for a chat by the five boys, aged between 13 and 18, at a park in the area, before she was forced to go with them to “chat” more at an abandoned house.

“While on the way, the girl tried to escape but was blocked by the boys, with one of them promising to send her home after having a ‘chat’,” Chandra said.

When they arrived at the house, the boys took turns raping the girl, he said.

The victim lodged a police report on July 26, six weeks after the incident allegedly took place but Chandra declined to comment on the time lapse between the attack and the victim coming forward.

The five suspects were arrested within 24 hours of the report being made and were remanded for seven days until August 3, he said.

The victim was reportedly stable and showed no sign of serious physical injury. – July 30, 2017.
