PAS candidate for Seri Setia, Dr Halimah Ali has dismissed her Pakatan Harapan opponent’s claim of having the ‘silent’ support of her party members in the state by-election.

Dr Halimah said this might have been the case prior to the 14th general election (GE14) but after PH won to become the federal government and many of the state government, any silent support it might have enjoyed had vanished.

He (Halimey) doesn’t understand that after PH came into power at the state and federal levels, the so-called silent voters have woken up,”  she told reporters after giving out “daging korban” (sacrificial meat) to residents of Lembah Subang Public Housing Project in Petaling Jaya, , today.

She was responding to Halimey Abu Bakar’s claim yesterday of confidence in the support of a good number of silent PAS members in the Seri Setia constituency.

Meanwhile, Dr Halimah said the by-election was chance for the voters to remind the ruling PH coalition of its election pledges and obligations.

“This by-election is no mere election… instead it gives the people who are aware of PH’s performance the chance to say ‘we are aware of what you are doing, so don’t take us for granted’,” she said.

The by-election on September 8 was called following the death of its assemblyman Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin on August 2 due to colon cancer.

The by-election will be held concurrently with the Balakong state by-election in Balakong, also called due to the death of its assemblyman.

Seri Setia will see a straight fight between Halimey, a former Petaling Jaya City Council member and Dr Halimah, a former Selangor state executive councillor and former assemblyman for Selat Klang.– Bernama, August 23, 2018.
