PAKATAN Harapan’s candidate for the Balakong by-election, Wong Siew Ki, said the coalition does not need MCA to serve as a check and balance in Selangor.

“I’m glad that MCA has finally caught up with the concept of checks and balances. A bit late.

“But, I don’t think they understand how PH works. Our legislators scold each other. No party is superior. Everyone is equal.

“Anyone who does something wrong will be reprimanded. We are not like Barisan Nasional (where Umno is supreme),” said Wong at her maiden night ceramah in Taman Sri Bahagia, Cheras Batu 9, yesterday.

More than 100 people, comprising mainly Chinese, attended.

Wong said PH does not resort to bribery to woo voters during elections.

“You have just heard from a minister, a deputy minister, the Selangor menteri besar and an exco.

“Did any of them offer to build a road, or a project, like BN used to do? No.

“We don’t distribute ‘candies’. We show you the results. This is the difference between PH and BN.”

Energy, Technology, Science, Climate Change and Environment Minister Yeo Bee Yin, Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Ong Kian Ming, Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari and exco Ng Sze Han spoke before Wong.

Amirudin said voters need not pity MCA.

“They have secretly befriended PAS… Although they have dropped the BN logo, they are still part of BN, which was led by a kleptocrat.”

Wong, a former Subang Jaya councillor, has pledged to help Balakong voters resolve their long-standing traffic and flood woes if she is voted in on September 8.

“I’ll give my best so that you don’t regret voting for me,” said the 32-year-old, who is also a documentary film-maker. – August 19, 2018.

  • If Be eNd is still in control they will be plenty of election goodies on offer from free meals, karaoke, lucky draws, resurface tarmac road, fixing street lights etc. After election, there will be payback time in the form of GST and other taxes. Too 'Bad' for Belakong and Seri Setia folks.
