DR Mahathir Mohamad has taken a jab at Low Taek Jho after the wanted businessman accused the prime minister of “putting words in the mouth” of US authorities regarding the status of luxury yacht Equanimity.

The prime minister told reporters at an art exhibition in Serdang today that he is proud to be able to put words in the mouth of the US government.

“I am proud that I could put words in the mouth of the US government. I must be greater than Donald Trump.

“He can ask the authorities whether I put words in their mouth. I typed out the words properly, and I shoved them down their throat. So, he should accept that.”

It was reported earlier today that a spokesman for Low, better known as Jho Low, through the Penang-born financier’s lawyers, said it is clear that Malaysia is lying about its “illegal” seizure of Equanimity.

The spokesman said Putrajaya’s action makes it impossible to sell the vessel at a fair price, due to still-open legal questions and repercussions for any new owner.

The spokesman said repeated misstatements by Malaysia are embarrassing the US, which has said it was not involved in the seizure, and will update the US courts on August 17.

The RM1 billion yacht was allegedly bought using 1Malaysia Development Bhd funds, which belonged to Malaysian taxpayers, said Dr Mahathir earlier this week, following an agreement reached for Indonesia to hand over Equanimity to Malaysia. – August 12, 2018.

  • I agreed with Jho Low. I proposed that he come back to Malaysia to challenge Tun and also proved how rich its his family that they can buy the yacht by cash.
