THE Seri Setia and Balakong by-elections will be held concurrently, with a 21-day campaign period and polling on September 8, the Election Commission announced today.

The filing of nominations for the Seri Setia seat will be on August 18, Bernama said in a tweet, making it the same day as nominations for Balakong.

EC deputy chairman Othman Mahmood announced the dates for Seri Setia at a press conference today, following the seat falling vacant with the death of PKR assemblyman Shaharuddin Badaruddin on August 2 from colon cancer.

The dates for the Balakong by-election had been announced earlier following the death of DAP assemblyman Eddie Ng Tien Chee who was killed in a road accident on July 20.

The Seri Setia and Balakong polls will be the second and third by-elections since the general election on May 9.

The first was at Sungai Kandis, which was held on August 4.

All three are state seats in Selangor won by Pakatan Harapan in the general election. – August 8, 2018.
