NAJIB Razak has arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office in Jalan Duta for another round of questioning, after being charged with corruption in June.
The former prime minister arrived at 4.58pm, accompanied by lawyers. He did not speak to the press.
Earlier today, an MACC source confirmed that Najib will face multiple charges tomorrow.
The source told The Malaysian Insight that the former Umno president, who has been charged with three counts of criminal breach of trust and one count of abuse of power, will be charged under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
“Yes, he will be charged tomorrow,” said the source.
MACC sources said Najib will not be arrested today, and will be allowed to leave once questioning is completed.
“No, he won’t be detained. He will speak to the press after questioning (is done).”
It was speculated earlier that the Pekan MP would be arrested.
Najib left the premises after being questioned for 45 minutes.
However, he did not speak to reporters, who had been waiting for more than two hours. His lawyers, too, did not speak to the media.
MACC, in a statement, confirmed that Najib will be charged under the Anti-Money Laundering Act at the Kuala Lumpur High Court tomorrow.
The anti-graft agency said the charges are in relation to SRC International, a former subsidiary of 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
“The charges will be brought forward after having received the green light from the attorney-general.” – August 7, 2018.
