THE government will not allow the proposed development at Taman Rimba Kiara if a portion of the park has to be compromised.
Federal Territories Minister Khalid Samad said the meeting between himself and representatives from Taman Tun Dr Ismail Residents’ Association (RA) involved discussions on the development, which was proposed by Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan.
“I have already informed Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan to relook the proposed plan,” he said in Kuala lumpur today.
He said the issue lies in the position of the development as whether it would be on the park or not.
“If it takes up a portion of the park, definitely I will not allow it.
“But if it is an issue where further clarification is needed, then I would have to wait for it (first),” he said.
On Sunday, Segambut MP Hannah Yeoh posted on her Facebook account that she had arranged a lunch meeting between four representatives from the RA and Khalid.
“It was good for the FT Minister to hear why Taman Rimba Kiara is so important to the community in TTDI & Kuala Lumpur. The TTDI RA reps presented a succinct summary & chronology,” posted Yeoh.
Khalid had recently said the ministry will review the contract for a high-rise development at the park.
Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan is chaired by former federal territories minister Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
The proposed development involves the building of eight blocks of 42- and 52-storey high-end service apartments and a 30-storey block of affordable housing.
On May 16, Yeoh lodged a report with MACC against Tengku Adnan over the project but MACC had yet to get back to her on the matter, although investigation has begun. – August 7, 2018.

I also wonder if that includes the car park area. The last government was insisting that the car park and small strip of land opposite of where there are many trees was not part of the park.
