PUTRAJAYA will reduce the number of special lottery draws operated by all number forecast operators in 2019, said Lim Guan Eng.

The finance minister told the Dewan Rakyat that the new policy will be announced in the upcoming Budget 2019.

“The reduction in the number of special draws is the first step by the government to reduce gambling activities so that it doesn’t bring social problems like excessive gambling addiction.

“That’s why the government doesn’t have the intention to approve any new license to increase gambling activities,” he told members during question time today.

He was responding to a question by Wong Shu Qi (PH-Kluang) who asked whether the government planned to allow number forecast operators such as Magnum, Sports Toto and Da Ma Can to hold special draws every Tuesday for 2019 onwards.

He said 22 special draws have been approved for this year. – August 7, 2018.
