UMNO’s Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has 24 hours to retract his claims that DAP has a Christian agenda in Putrajaya, said Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng.
Lim said Umno must take disciplinary action against Tajuddin, who is an Umno Supreme Council member, for promoting politics of race and religion based on lies.
He added that Tajuddin, who is Pasir Salak MP, must prove his allegations against the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, DAP and the Christian community.
He was referring to Tajuddin’s remarks made during the Sungai Kandis by-election campaign last week, where he had warned voters that DAP and the Christian-led PH government wants to abolish the Malay monarchy and establish a republic.
Speaking to a group of Malay voters in Kg Jawa in Sungai Kandis, Tajuddin had warned the Malays that “Christians have taken over Putrajaya and the states.”
He also said DAP leaders were using their positions in government to spread the Christian agenda, and named several DAP leaders in the government as Christian evangelists.
Lim today pointed out that Barisan Nasional lost 14 of the 19 polling stations in Sungai Kandis, including the Kg Jawa polling district where the hate speech was made.
He said Malaysian voters, in particularly the Malays, were matured and rational after the political watershed general election on May 9.
“The message from Sungai Kandis by-election result is the new Malaysia has no place for politics of fear, hate and lies using race and religion in post-14th general election.
“Would Tajuddin dare to bring the same allegations when campaigning in the upcoming by-elections in Balakong and Seri Setia?,” said Lim. – August 6, 2018.
