AMIRUDIN Shari will not be running for PKR vice-president in the party’s elections as he wants to focus on running Selangor.
The Selangor menteri besar and Sg Tua state assemblyman said he also wanted to make way for senior party leaders to vie for the four vice-president positions.
“The post, I foresee, will see fierce competition. I respect several party seniors, such as Zuraida, Shamsul Iskandar, Sivarasah and so on. Give others the chance to compete in accordance with their age and seniority,” he said.
“I will focus on Selangor. What’s more, I am in a new administration and the focus, among others, is the budget and two other by-elections, which I will be facing,” he said after submitting his nomination papers for a seat on the central executive council at PKR’s headquarters in Petaling Jaya earlier today.
Amirudin said facing several by-elections so soon after the 14th general election was one of the biggest challenges he faced as menteri besar. – August 5, 2018.
