SEBERANG Jaya assemblyman Afif Bahardin and Gombak Setia assemblyman Hilman Idham will vie for the top two positions in PKR’s Youth wing, Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK).

In a joint statement, Afif, who is also Penang state executive councillor, said he will contest the position of Youth chief while Hilman will go for the deputy Youth chief in the party elections next month.

“We are aware that AMK, being the Youth wing, is important and we need to come together as a strong and united leadership to plan the future of the new Malaysia and to implement the reformasi agenda in Putrajaya,” the statement read.

Packaging themselves as a team, the duo said they had held discussions with PKR de factor leader Anwar Ibrahim, party leaders and partners in Permatang Pauh, Gombak and AMK’s grassroots leaders to reach a consensus.

August 5 is nomination day for candidates to contest for positions in the party’s central executive council. The PKR polling process will be based on zones and involves 900,000 members eligible to vote. – Bernama, August 3, 2018.
