INSPECTOR-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun said stern action would be taken against any police personnel who turned a blind eye to illegal gambling activities.
Fuzi was commenting on the action taken against Gombak OCPD Ali Ahmad who was transferred with immediate effect recently for failing to act against gambling dens in Rawang.
“On vice issues, I have instructed all of my men from the director to the state police chief to the district police chief to treat matters related to illegal activities as a serious issue.”
“If you do not comply, I will take stern action. If you fail to curb this then you have to face the consequences,” he said.
Fuzi added that several other officers from the district station were also transferred and the same course of action will be applied on others.
“I hope this will act as a lesson for the others,” he told reporters after a joint event with Suhakam this morning.
Fuzi later said that he will have a closed door meeting with all 145 district police chiefs next week to address the issue.
Federal Police Head of Corporate Communications, Asmawati Ahmad, announced last week the transfer involving Ali and the Commandant of the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) Air Hitam, ACP Samsor Maarof.
The order came following an illegal gambling operation initiated by Federal and Selangor police from the Anti-Vice, Gambling and Secret Societies Division (D7) at Bandar Baru Rawang on July 27.
Mohamad Fuzi was part of the operation where police arrested 113 people from 10 gambling dens in Rawang. – August 2, 2018.
