THE technical committee on the devolution of powers to Sabah and Sarawak will meet for the final time Tuesday, said Foreign Minister Anifah Aman.
He said the meeting would flesh out the recommendations made by the Technical Committee on the Devolution of Authority formed in June last year, before presenting it to the Federal Government.
“The progress of work done by the committee on Sabah and Sarawak’s constitutional rights is doing well,” he told The Malaysian Insight.
“The steering commitee is expected to present the final recommendations after the meeting on Tuesday,” he said.
Sabahan Anifah, is co-chairing the committee with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri, a Sarawakian.
The committee was formed to provide the recommendations to Federal Government on how power could be devolved to the state government of Sarawak.
It will also look into Sabah’s revenue rights, Sabah’s rights in the Federal Constitution, Malaysia Act and Malaysia Agreement 1963, as well as the Intergovernmental Committee Report. – July 22, 2017.
