BN uses dancers to attack Pakatan in Sg Kandis by-election

A PRIVATE fundraiser for Tabung Harapan has been turned into fodder for Barisan Nasional candidate Lokman Noor Adam in the Sg Kandis by-election.

Lokman yesterday uploaded a short clip of dancers from the event on his Instagram account and asked his rival, Mohd Zawawi Ahmad Mughni, what he thought of Pakatan Harapan using LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) dancers to collect funds for Tabung Harapan.

“Can a Pakatan assemblyman speak up against the prime minister or his deputy? If not, hand over the job to us by voting Barisan Nasional on August 4,” said Lokman.

According to one of the organising committee members, Debra Moreira, the fundraiser was a private event organised by the shipping community.

“It had nothing to do with Pakatan although we passed the cheque to MP Tony Pua,” Moreira told The Malaysian Insight today.

Moreira also dismissed the allegation that the dancers were from a LGBT group.

“Having dancers in private shipping events are normal. They were professionals and shouldn’t be dragged into this issue.”

The fundraiser in Shah Alam on Wednesday attracted about 200 logistics and shipping companies from Port Klang which raised RM1 million for Tabung Harapan.

Besides Pua, other politicians at the event included Selangor exco Ng Sze Han and Deputy Education Minister Teo Nie Ching.

PKR candidate Zawawi denied that he supported having dancers at a fundraiser.

“I hope this puts the rumour to rest and the event should not be exploited for political reasons,” said the religious teacher in a video clip sent to the media today.

The Sg Kandis by-election will see a three-cornered fight among Lokman, Zawawi and K. Murthy (independent).

This is the first by-election following the general election on May 9. The seat fell vacant after the death of assemblyman Mat Shuhaimie Shafiei on July 2. – July 27, 2018.

  • Lokman seemed to have missed the point that this dancer is helping to clean up UMNO's international mess so what is so not noble about her? A million ringgit in Tabung Harapan is a million ringgit less national debt for Malaysia!
