HUMAN rights group Suaram are urging the police to open investigations into the alleged kidnapping of security personnel M. Rajanthiran, who went missing four months ago in Nilai.

Suaram executive director Sevan Doraisamy said police have failed to take any action despite being given the names of the suspects involved in the case.

“There is an eyewitness in the case – Mohan, who was also kidnapped but managed to escape,” he told reporters at the entrance of the Bukit Aman federal police headquarters today.

“The police said that he is not a credible witness because he has a record.”

Sevan will be handing a memorandum to Bukit Aman on behalf of the family, urging the authorities to probe the case.

Rajanthiran was believed to have been kidnapped on March 29, and his family had lodged a police report on March 30 at a police station in Kuala Langat.

Sevan said that the family had given Mohan’s recorded statement to the police detailing the incident but the police have yet to take action.

“This is a straightforward case with evidence given, but the police have yet to solve it.

“The family of the victim are still waiting for answers,” he said.

Sevan said that the 22-year-old had joined a security company in Nilai six months ago after returning from working in Singapore.

“He and Mohan were working for their boss, called Guna.

“On March 29 they went to see two colleagues named Jayakumar and Suresh Kumar, and that was the last time his family members saw him.”

Sevan said Rajanthiran’s brother M. Yasotharan claimed that Guna and three other colleagues are involved in the kidnapping.

“I contacted Suresh Kumar and he said he will send my brother at 7am.

“But when I contacted him again he said he doesn’t know where (my brother) is,” he said.

Yasotharan said Suresh Kumar told him he will release Rajanthiran for RM30,000 on the same night of the incident .

Sevan said Mohan also told them that Rajanthiran was beaten.

He said that the boss, Guna, had been remanded for three days and then released without any charges.

“The police said they can’t harass the other suspects because they have no proof.

“We are urging that the inspector-general of police intervene and solve the case,” he said.

Sevan also said that they will be submitting the memorandum to the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia. – July 26, 2018.
