BARISAN Nasional can stop dreaming of winning big in Felda in the next general election as Bersatu and Pakatan Harapan have made inroads during its visits there, Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said.

He said Felda was one of the areas that Bersatu would be focusing on in its election campaign.

“We will go to all areas. Because for sure PH will go up against BN in almost all seats,” he said in a press conference held at the party headquarters in Petaling Jaya.

He said there were 54 Felda settlements and these would be Bersatu’s target.

Although the record showed that Umno always won by a big margin in Felda due to the Malay majority, Muhyiddin said that would no longer be the case.

“I would like to give BN some bad news. Do not dream of winning big again. This is because we received a very clear message from the grassroots in Felda.

“The support we received from the settlers in those areas was huge,” he said.

It is expected that the older group of voters in Felda will continue to vote BN but the second generation of Felda settlers are pressing for change as they feel themselves failed by the government. – July 19, 2017.
