LOKMAN Noor Adam knows that winning the Sungai Kandis by-election will not change the Selangor government, but he believes he is the right man to check the inexperienced Pakatan Harapan government.

Unlike the previous menteri besar, Azmin Ali, the new one, Amiruddin Shaari, has no experience. As such, he won’t be able to cover the state’s problems well,” Lokman said in an live dialogue with Umno Online, livestreamed on Facebook tonight.

Lokman, who was recently appointed an Umno Supreme Council member, said in the previous term, Barisan Nasional did not have the right backbenchers to keep the PH state government in check.

“Although Selangor is a developed state, there were many weaknesses. But we did not highlight these issues because we did not have the right people.

We had hoped our people would have raised issues in the state assembly but Jamal (Yunos) wasn’t there,” he said, referring to the firebrand leader notorious for publicity stunts. He is now facing charges for public nuisance.

“But I have the experience to raise these issues as I have worked in the Finance Ministry,” said Lokman, without elaborating on what these problems were.

Selangor has been ruled by Pakatan Harapan and its predecessor, Pakatan Rakyat, since 2008 while being the opposition at the federal level.

In 2013, BN had 12 elected representatives in the Selangor assembly. In the recent general election, BN lost another eight seats and currently only has four, while PAS has one seat in the 56-seat assembly.

Lokman said many Malaysians had been conned by unfounded allegations and lies about former prime minister Najib Razak having “stolen” RM2.6 billion from 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

He also said that PH was failing to keep its election manifesto promises and that Sungai Kandis voters could send a clear signal to the ruling coalition by voting him in.

Lokman, who was a political appointee in the Finance Ministry, also said PH ministers were “trigger happy” when it comes to criticising BN, and seemed too eager to give press conferences.

“They are still acting like the opposition and cherry-picking facts. When we gave press conferences on the cost of living, we gave data from the Statistics Department and not just talk,” he added.

“As such, Sungai Kandis voters should use this chance to send a clear signal to Pakatan that it is failing.”

After BN’s loss of federal power and losing his job as strategic communications director at the Finance Ministry under Najib’s administration, Lokman started Pemantau Malaysia Baru, a group to monitor the new government.

The live interview on Facebook tonight was plagued with audio problems and only attracted 279 viewers at its height.

Also in the livestreamed discussion was newly elected Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is also Umno Selangor chairman. Moderating the talk was Umno Supreme Council member Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz.

The Sungai Kandis by-election will see a three-cornered fight between Lokman, PKR’s Zawawi Ahmad Mughni and independent K. Murthy.

This is the first by-election following the general election on May 9. The seat fell vacant after assemblyman Shuhaimie Shafiei died on July 2.

In May, Shuhaimie polled 23,998 votes to win with a majority of 12,480 votes. BN’s Kamaruzzaman Johari received 11,518 votes while PAS’ Yusof Abdullah had 7,573. PRM’s Hanafiah Husin mustered only 76 votes out of 50,800. – July 21, 2018.

  • If the denial about Najib and his 1MDB scandals is all you got , nothing good will be expected from you even if you do win the Sg. Kandis by election BUT fat hopes.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Lokman you are nothing but just another scumbag taking over the role from Jamal Jamban. Please do not brag about your experience in the Finanace Ministry. It is goons like you that we have the trillions debts and yet you are still feeling proud and denying the fact of your thieving boss which we are waiting for justice to be meted to him and if ever there is any linkage on your part be prepared for the law will comes down hard on you. Make very sure you are really squeaky clean before you dare to go for his by election.

  • Notice how Perkasa, Jamal, Musa Ama and son, Riduan and most of the cyber troopers have suddenly gone silent. Oh what peace! Now we just have this fool and Najib to put up with. Waste in the PH manifesto but a great success. Best would be if Lokman loses massively. Is it too much to hope for?

  • "He is the right man to check the inexperienced Pakatan Harapan government. "

Fair enough but definitely it's not Lokman, the 2nd Jamal Jamban.
