KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will suspend the condominium project at Taman Desa, following protests by residents.

Protect Taman Desa Coalition member Khong K.Y. said that the grouping were informed that the suspension letter has been prepared by DBKL’s Planning Department.

“We were told that the suspension of work notice will be issued to the project site.

“The letter has been prepared and sent to the relevant enforcement department for action.

“The notice will be issued to Kisser Bina Sdn Bhd (developer) on Monday,” he said at the Tiara Faber condominium in Taman Desa today.

Since 2017, residents in this Kuala Lumpur suburb have protested the development of the condominium which is being built on TNB land.

They claim the proposed three blocks of 37-storey high-rise condominium will cause heavy congestion in an already-overdeveloped area.

The association is also protesting 14 other projects, which it alleges were approved by DBKL without proper consideration of Taman Desa’s 50-year-old infrastructure, including public transport, roads and water pipes, which have not been upgraded.

The coalition also said that memorandums detailing the findings together with evidence to back up their claims has also been submitted to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, the police, Attorney-General Chambers and prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Two judicial review cases filed in March and July 2017 remains in the Kuala Lumpur High Court. Two postponements have taken place and the hearing is now slated for August 20.

Last November, residents filed a suit against Kuala Lumpur mayor Mhd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz to halt the construction. – July 7, 2018.
