ALL Barisan Nasional representatives on the City Hall advisory board are required to immediately relinquish their positions, said Khalid Samad.

The Federal Territories Minister said the board members who were political appointees would be replaced by Kuala Lumpur MPs.

“If they will not step down, then I will tell the mayor (Mohd Amin Nordin Abdul Aziz) to replace the board.

“There are currently eight BN members on the board. They must step down immediately,” he said, after a meeting with KL lawmakers, in Putrajaya, today.

Khalid said the there was no moral justification for the appointees to hold on to their posts.

Meanwhile, he said, the ministry would be taking another look at the tenure of the BN representatives remaining in its employ.

“All public servants must work with the government of the day.”

Khalid said the mayor would remain for the foreseeable future..

“For now there is no decision to change the mayor.”

He said a special committee would be set up so that KL MPs were represented in City Hall.

“We want the KL MPs to have a role in DBKL where they raise issues in their constituencies in terms of budget and projects.

“If need be we will prepare a cabinet paper on this,” – July 4, 2018.
